Cech makes Baggies peace

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has made peace with Marek Cech and expressed a desire to keep the defender at The Hawthorns.

The pair fell out when Cech told a Slovakian news agency that he wanted to quit the club just six months after joining the Premier League new boys due to a lack of first team football.

Serie A side Napoli and Championship outfit Ipswich have been linked with an approach for Cech, who cost the Baggies £1.4million in the summer, but Mowbray is happy to keep him in the Midlands for the foreseeable future.

"It is probably not the time or place for me to discuss one individual player's future, but he isn't getting chased out of our club by me," Mowbray told the Express and Star.

"I would be delighted if he is still here, because he gives us excellent cover in certain positions on the pitch, which is not easy to find good players.

"Yet the boy doesn't want to be cover, he wants to play every week. We will wait and see what his future holds."
