Wigan manager Steve Bruce has hinted that Manchester City are the side rivalling Tottenham in the race to sign Wilson Palacios.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is close to a £14million deal for the Honduran midfielder, but reports on Saturday suggested Manchester United were ready to hijack the move.
Bruce confirmed that a second unnamed club were vying for Palacios after Saturday's defeat to City, however he has ruled out United.
And the Latics boss has suggested that the new suitors could be City after admitting that the club was based in the North West.
"The club involved is not far from where we are now," Bruce told the News of the World following the 1-0 loss at Eastlands.
"And it is not true that it is Manchester United."
