Boro charged by the FA

The Football Association has charged Middlesbrough with failure to control their players during the defeat at West Brom.

Boro are in hot water following the reaction of a number of their team to Didier Digard's red card in Saturday's 3-0 loss at the Hawthorns.

Digard was dismissed by referee Mark Halsey in the 62nd minute on Saturday after a heavy challenge on Borja Valero.

Midfielder Digard and team-mates Mido, Robert Huth and Afonso Alves reacted furiously to the decision and Halsey dropped his cards as he was jostled in the resulting melee.

Skipper Stewart Downing helped to restore order before Digard eventually left the field as Boro slipped into the bottom three on the back of the defeat.

The Football Association has now decided to charge Gareth Southgate's side, who have until 4th February to respond.
