Dimitar Berbatov's best is just around the corner, says Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The striker became United's record signing when Ferguson shelled out nearly £31million for him on the last transfer deadline day.
It has taken him time to live up to that big money billing, but Ferguson believes the wait could soon be over.
Berbatov delivered the inch-perfect pass to Cristiano Ronaldo that set up Wayne Rooney's strike in the 1-0 midweek defeat of Wigan - and with Rooney now injured and Carlos Tevez also doubtful to face Bolton on Saturday, the timing could not be better.
"I have a feeling we are about to see the best of Berbatov," said Ferguson.
"When you pay a lot of money for a player he inevitably comes under close scrutiny.
"It happened to Juan Sebastian Veron and Rio Ferdinand and Dimitar has also suffered from the impatience of people when a guy makes a big move.
"At Tottenham, he orchestrated most of their play and if, at times, he has looked a bit isolated, it was because our players needed to adjust to him just as much as he has needed to learn our ways."
