Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has said he is delighted with his side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Bolton.

Rovers were completely outplayed in the opening 45 minutes and headed into the dressing room two goals down at half-time.

But after some tactical changes the home side rallied to seal a point against a determined Trotters at Ewood Park.

Allardyce admitted his delight in his side's improved performance as they stretched their unbeaten run to seven games since his arrival.

"I have to say - what a performance!" said the former Bolton manager.

"The players showed character and commitment to get us back into the game.

"The quality we showed and the pressure we kept on asserting ultimately won us a point today."

Asked if he felt the decision to bring Roque Santa Cruz on made a difference to the game, Allardyce said: "The tactical change at half-time and the substitutions certainly helped.

"Obviously the disappointing thing for us is that we couldn't go on to take all three points.

"It's a precious point for us and from a confidence point of view that's very important."
