West Ham 2 - 1 Stoke

West Ham have ended 2008 on a high after coming from behind to beat Stoke 2-1 at Upton Park.

West Ham started the festive period beating Portsmouth 4-1 at Fratton Park and the Hammers continued their good form in Sunday's home win.

Gianfranco Zola's men did not get the game off to the best of starts however, when Abdoulaye Diagne Faye's header on four minutes gave the visiting side the lead after some slack West Ham defending.

But West Ham responded and were back on level terms when Carlton Cole's swivel shot curled into the right corner on 53 minutes.

Then came the decisive moment of the match - with Stoke set to restart the game, Ricardo Fuller had a moment of madness as he slapped team-mate and Captain Andy Griffin.

The striker was given his marching orders by referee Mike Jones and it proved costly as West Ham sealed the three-points in the 88th minute when Diego Tristan deflected Cole's shot into the back of the net.
