Carlos Villanueva's Blackburn future has been cast into doubt after the sacking of Paul Ince on Tuesday.
Villanueva, who is currently on a season-long loan at Blackburn from Audax Italiano, was due to seal a permanent move to the relegation-threatened side for £5million in January as part of the loan agreement.
Audax sporting director Claudio Tessa has revealed the impending move now looks likely to fall through, with the talented 22-year-old's spell at Blackburn set to come to an end.
Tessa insists Audax had received no communication from Blackburn over the midfielder while Ince was at the helm, and with Ince out of the picture, they expect to do business with another club in January.
"We are preoccupied by this subject but it is very possible that Blackburn will reject the chance (to sign Villanueva)," Tessa told skysports.com.
"Now (Audax) are prepared to offer the kid to any club in the world during January."
A return to Audax seems unlikely with Tessa citing Europe as Villanueva's best chance to improve as a player.
