Scolari's striking fears

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba are struggling to form a strike partnership.

Scolari has revealed he has been working hard on the training pitch with the duo in a bid to find the right formula for the pair.

Drogba has seen his participation this season blighted by injury and suspension with Anelka leading the line in his absence.

There have been calls for Scolari to play the duo together to boost Chelsea's attacking options, but ahead of Monday's game at Everton the Brazilian admits both players have failed to gel.

"Drogba is ready to start now, but maybe that will be after this one," said Scolari

"I've tried playing them together in training and sometimes it is good - but sometimes it is not.

"At the moment it is 50-50. But in this period the players have worked hard to understand how it works.

"We have discussed what the players need to do when we play the two. They now know what positions they should be in when we have the ball.

"Anelka has said he believes he can play with Didier. We need that confidence.

"If the players don't have that, it is impossible."
