Everton have received a massive boost with the news that French striker Louis Saha's injury is not as serious as first feared.
The Toffees suffered a double striker blow in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Spurs, with Saha stretchered off and Yakubu also injured.
While scans on Monday have confirmed that Yakubu sustained a ruptured right Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the season, the prognosis is much better for Saha.
The club say the player will be assessed throughout the week but is not expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
This is excellent news as Victor Ancihebe is the only recognised forward left for Moyes to choose from at present.
Everton head physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website: "Scans have confirmed the clinical diagnosis that Yakubu has ruptured his right Achilles tendon.
"He will undergo surgery in London tomorrow (Tuesday) and be out for the rest of the season. We expect him to be back for the start of next season.
"Louis Saha had a muscle spasm in his hamstring. It doesn't look too serious and we will be evaluating it over the next few days."
Saha switched to Everton in the summer after an injury plagued stay at Man Utd.
The 30-year-old has netted three times in the league so far for the Toffees.
