Redknapp rues dropped point

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp revealed his frustration after his side failed to hold on to a draw in their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.

The match looked destined to end up all-square before substitute Damien Duff linked up with Mark Viduka to score the Magpies' winner after 87 minutes.

It was Spurs who always looked the more likely to score after Luka Modric cancelled out Charles N'Zogbia's opener midway through the first half.

The defeat is just Redknapp's third at the Tottenham helm since he joined the club in October and the Spurs boss was disappointed to not have come away with a point.

"I'm desperately disappointed, how we got beat today I'll never know," Redknapp told Sky Sports.

"I could only see one winner and as we were pushing forward going for the winner we got caught on the break.

"We had chances to go 2-1 up and I'm sure we'd have won the game then. We'll never get a better chance to come to Newcastle and win, that's for sure.

"I couldn't have asked them to play any better than they did today.

"We were pushing for a winner up until injury time. We were always looking for the win.

"Sometimes when you're away from home like that in injury time, you've got to make sure you try to get the point and maybe that's what we should have done today."
