Under-pressure Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has stood by his decision to leave Blackburn Rovers, as he prepares to return to his former club.
Hughes spent four years with the Ewood Park outfit before joining Manchester City during the summer.
Since then, things have not gone quite as planned for the Welshman, with his City side currently lying just one point above the relegation places.
But, despite the poor start, Hughes insists that he has no regrets about leaving Blackburn and is more than happy to face up to the difficult task that lies ahead at Eastlands.
"I made the right decision at the right time. I had to test myself," he said in the Daily Star Sunday.
"I had to make sure I went into a club where I would be tested. And it's fair to say we're all being tested at the moment.
"I could have stayed at Blackburn for maybe the next three or four years and been quite comfortable.
"But what's the point in that? You have got to test yourself at a bigger level and there are no self-doubts in me."
Regardless of his self-belief, many commentators have suggested that Hughes' days may be numbered at the club following the Abu Dhabi takeover.
But the man himself is far more positive about his chances of turning City's season around.
"I am quite comfortable with where we are trying to go," he added.
"I have got a great staff and we had to change people's mindset and the culture of the club. It's not going to happen overnight.
"There were a lot of things to address quickly on and off the field and sometimes that impacts negatively on the club."
