Steve McClaren has rejected reports he could be set for a shock return to England as manager of Sunderland.
The Black Cats are searching for a new boss after Roy Keane walked out on the Premier League club last week.
Former England and Middlesbrough boss McClaren, currently with Dutch outfit FC Twente, was one name reported to be in the frame for the role on Wearside.
Sam Allardyce and Peter Reid have already confirmed they are keen on taking charge at the Stadium of Light, but McClaren has moved to distance himself from the post.
"It's nonsense," he told Dutch newspaper TC Tubantia. "I have no interest whatsoever in returning to England at the moment."
McClaren, who has seen his new side beaten by Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and Manchester City in the Uefa Cup, has guided Twente to third in the Eredivisie table.
