Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear insists he will be under no pressure to part with any of his players in January.
Reports have suggested that Liverpool are keen to take Michael Owen back to Anfield, while the likes of Mark Viduka, Obafemi Martins, Steven Taylor and Charles N'Zogbia all have their admirers.
However, Kinnear, fresh from being handed the reins at St James' Park until the end of the season, is expecting to add to his squad - not diminish it.
He is confident that club owner Mike Ashley will make the necessary funds available to bring in fresh faces, with his scouting network already deployed to every corner of the earth.
"The only reason I would move players out is if they wouldn't be regulars in the first team," Kinnear told the Evening Chronicle.
"In any case, I wouldn't be thinking of moving anybody out until I got players in because of the injury situation we've got at the moment.
"We've quite a few players who are long-term injuries, so I definitely need to go out and get new faces in the next transfer window, and that's what I intend to do."
Of more immediate concern to Kinnear is a home clash with Stoke on Saturday.
The Magpies boss is in confident mood heading into that contest and will run the rule over the Potters during their Carling Cup quarter-final with Derby on Tuesday.
"I am toying with the idea of having a look myself at Stoke in their Carling Cup quarter-final with Derby County tonight, but a lot depends on the weather," he added.
"But whatever happens we will have tonight's game well covered.
"And while I always say it is all about us and how we play on Saturday, it never does any harm having up-to-date information about the opposition."
