Phil Brown felt his Hull City side got their just desserts after the Tigers came from behind to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 at the KC Stadium
City were trailing to Tuncay's 79th minute tap-in but rallied to claim all three points - their first win in six - courtesy of an own goal from Boro keeper Ross Turnbull and a controversial Marlon King penalty.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate was adamant Geovanni was offside before making the run which earned the crucial spot-kick but Brown felt his side's endeavour throughout the game earned them a slice of good fortune.
"You win some you lose some," Brown said of the penalty award which also saw Boro defender David Wheater sent-off .
"The Brazilian has got the ball, he's kept himself onside, got inside the centre half and obviously it's dangerous to go anywhere near players from there.
"The lad has been unfortunate to get sent-off but he's made contact and Geo's gone down.
"We lost out on a penalty last week (at Stoke) but it wasn't just the penalty decision that got us the win.
"I was very disappointed when we went a goal behind but to get a win in the manner we got it was fantastic," added the Tigers boss. "We are probably the team in the division that has won most games after going a goal behind.
"The way the lads have driven themselves on; I asked for more from them before the game and we improved on everything. We've had 18 shots today so we needed to get something out of the game.
"I can't give these boys enough credit but the next experience for us is to make sure we don't go behind and that we show we can win from a winning position."
The victory came on the second anniversary of Brown's arrival at the KC Stadium and also coincided with speculation linking him with the managerial vacancy at Sunderland.
But the former Derby boss is adamant he wants to see how far he can go with the Tigers.
"Managers need to be in place and in charge for a number of years to get any kind of success - the proof of the pudding is in Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger," Brown said.
"I'm very proud of the fact that people are attaching me to these kind of jobs but there's a lot of work to be done here and we are only 10 per cent of the way down the line to the success we can achieve.
"It's been a fantastic journey in the two years we have been here but it's not down to me it's down to the players and again they showed that today.
"One beauty of what we're doing here is we can score goals at this level. We have a number of Premier League quality players that we brought in at the start of the season that have blended quite nicely with the Myhills, the Ricketts and the Turners.
"There is flair, there's goals, there's ability and the attitude in the changing room not to lose games."
