Fulham boss Roy Hodgson was delighted with the 'important win' over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Fulham are now seven games unbeaten in the Premier League following their comfortable 3-0 win against Gareth Southgate's Boro at Craven Cottage.
And the Cottagers boss stated a win was crucial to Fulham's aspirations to aviod a relegation battle similar to the one they suffered last season.
"It was an important win," Hodgson said.
"We've had some good performances away from home and have played well and got credit for what we have achieved but it's still only the one point (in those away games).
"So it was important today to get the three today because that's what moves you further up the table."
Danny Murphy was instrumental in a couple of the goals before receiving a standing ovation from the Craven Cottage faithful and his manager was full of praise for the midfielder.
"I thought we created a lot of opportunities during the game and I thought Danny was very good, I took him off to give him a rest," said Hodgson, who also gave Jimmy Bullard the same treatment once the match had been sealed.
"I thought once we got two goals in front we controlled the game extremely well and we were looking very good and could have actually scored a few more had we had the neccessary composure or luck in front of goal."
Hodgson also reserved special praise for his front two, despite neither of them getting onto the score-sheet.
Andrew Johnson was a constant thorn in the Boro defence while first-half subsitute Bobby Zamora was hugely influential despite hardly training for Fulham this week and Hodgson was pleased with the both players' impacts.
"Both he (Zamora) and Andy (Johnson) are doing such a good job for the team and playing so well, if we keep winning games and winning by three goals to nil I don't care who gets the goals," Hodgson added.
One ugly incident was the horror tackle in the first half by Boro's Julio Arca on Johnson, but Hodsgon played down the challenge.
"It was a bad tackle but not an evil tackle," he said.
"It was one of those type of reckless tackles that you get from players that aren't really defenders.
"I think he (Arca) is a bit lucky that the referee saw it the same way I did. I'm just really pleased Andy didn't suffer any kind of injury."
