Harry rejects Roman rumours

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has rubbished reports that he is planning to sell Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Reports on Friday suggested that Redknapp was willing to offload Pavlyuchenko when the transfer window reopens after failing to be impressed by the Russian.

Pavlyuchenko arrived at White Hart Lane from Spartak Moscow before the close of the transfer window and he has scored seven goals in all competitions.

Redknapp insists he has no plans to sell Pavlyuchenko as he already has a shortage of strikers at his disposal

"That is absolute rubbish," insisted Redknapp. "I have got two strikers available tomorrow, Fraizer Campbell can't play as he can't play against Manchester United and he has a calf strain.

"The two strikers I have got here are Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko so how can I be offloading anybody?

"He [Pavlyuchenko] is a quality player and I don't know where that report has come from."

Redknapp has also admitted the club will not be held to ransom over any transfer targets when the transfer window reopens.

"We are not going to dive in and pay silly money for players, the chairman won't do that," added Redknapp.

"We have just got to wait and see. If people ask extortionate fees for players we are interested in then we won't sign anybody."
