Beattie recalled by Baggies

West Bromwich Albion have recalled striker Craig Beattie from his loan spell at Crystal Palace.

Beattie has been at Selhurst Park since September and was due to stay with the Championship club until 28th December.

However, after Ishmael Miller was ruled out for the rest of the season, Beattie has been summoned back to West Brom to provide cover.

The Scotland international, who scored five goals in 15 games for Palace, admits he is disappointed to be leaving Neil Warnock's side.

"I am disappointed to leave here because I am thoroughly enjoying it," Beattie told Palace's official website.

"All the same, if I am going to go back and get an opportunity to play in the Premiership, I can only look at it in a positive light although I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

"I would like to think that it has been successful. I have been on a good goal trail recently, I think it was three goals in five games, but unfortunately for Palace - but might turn out to be fortunate for me - I have been recalled due to an injury at West Brom and there is nothing anyone can do about that.

"As it stands I am a West Brom player and they decide what happens. At the same time I am looking forward to getting there and having a crack in the Premiership."

Beattie is now likely to vie with Roman Bednar and Luke Moore for the chance to start West Brom's game at fellow strugglers Sunderland on Saturday.
