Andrei Arshavin has again expressed his desire to leave Zenit St Petersburg, with a number of clubs vying for his signature.
Zenit were keen to hold onto the 27-year-old schemer but after exiting the UEFA Champions League they are now likely to allow Arshavin to leave.
The £24million signing of Portuguese playmaker Danny in the summer has also added to Arshavin's request to leave as coach Dick Advocaat struggles to fit them both into his starting line-up.
"A professional cannot lack the desire to play when he walks onto the field," Arshavin told the Sunday Telegraph.
"I try and play for Zenit the best I can. But I repeatedly told the president of the club that I didn't want to remain in the side any longer.
"If they don't let me leave, I'll be listed as a Zenit player, but on paper only."
A number of clubs have shown an interest in the 27-year-old including Barcelona, Real Madrid and reportedly Tottenham.
Premier League side Spurs have long been linked with the Zenit player with Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko urging the club to sign his Russian compatriot.
They were thought to be close to landing Arshavin in the summer but talks collapsed after Zenit demanded over a fee in the region of £20million.
Spurs' bitter rivals Arsenal are also reportedly among the clubs keen on securing Arshavin.
