The Football Association will not be taking any action in regards to an alleged stamp by Chelsea defender Alex.
The Brazilian centre-half appeared to trample on Everton playmaker Tim Cahill during a 0-0 draw between the two sides at Goodison Park on Monday.
The incident occurred after a weekend which saw a number of contentious challenges fall under the microscope.
Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca received only a caution for a horrific challenge on Fulham's Andy Johnson, while Hull's Sam Ricketts also saw red on Saturday.
Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor was then given his marching orders in a crunch clash with Liverpool on Sunday, before Chelsea skipper John Terry was dismissed for a late lunge on Toffees ace Leon Osman.
Alex's misdemeanour came in the wake of his captain's dismissal, with referee Phil Dowd in danger of surrendering control of a highly-charged contest on Merseyside.
The South American tangled with Cahill after the pair had challenged for a loose ball, with the Everton man crumpling to the ground.
Alex did then place a foot on the Australian's thigh, but he used no great force and will be pleased to have been spared a post-game punishment.
A statement from the Football Association said: "Referee Phil Dowd confirmed to the FA today that he had not seen the incident at the time.
"He was subsequently requested to view footage of the incident. Having done so, Dowd informed the FA that, had he seen the incident, he would not have shown Alex a red card. On this basis, the FA will not be taking any disciplinary action."
