Adams has full control

Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has declared that he is under no pressure to sell players in January despite the club being up for sale.

Adams insists that owner Alexandre Gaydamak has promised him that he will have the final say if anyone is to leave Fratton Park.

It has been no secret that Gaydamak has been seeking a buyer over recent weeks but the Pompey boss is adamant that the current owner will not be rushed into a quick sale.

On the contrary to rumours that the club lack funds, the former Arsenal defender has admitted that he would like to bring in a number of players in the transfer window to bolster his squad.

"In terms of the club being up for sale, we just wanted to be open and honest with everyone, there are a lot of football clubs up for sale," Adams confirmed.

"The owner said he can't give the time and energy needed. He said he doesn't have to sell it today and it is not going to be tomorrow. It will not be until the right people with the right values come along.

"Am I under pressure to sell players in January? He said nothing changes with that. He has been supportive. I couldn't ask for better people to work for and I am not just saying that.

"If a ridiculous offer comes in, I'll accept it to be honest but he has not said get rid of anyone.

"It will be my decision that is the guarantee he has given me. In fact I might add one or two players but that's it.

"I am not going to panic in January."
