Wenger tight-lipped over Gallas

Arsene Wenger insists he retains full faith in his players after watching them fall to a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, while he remained tight-lipped over what the future holds for William Gallas.

The French defender did not travel to Eastlands after voicing his belief that all was not happy in Arsenal's camp earlier this week.

Manuel Almunia took over the captain's armband in Manchester but was powerless to prevent Arsenal slipping to what is another costly league defeat.

Wenger feels the game was tighter than the scoreline suggests and that Stephen Ireland's opening goal on the stroke of half-time decided matters.

"I feel it was a very, very tight game," he told Sky Sports.

"At 0-0 I thought we looked in control of the game. A mistake for the first goal, and from then on it was us trying to get back and them defending very well and getting us on the counter-attack.

"Against Aston Villa we had no energy but today we had to fight very hard. The key moment in the game, you have to keep at 0-0.

"If we had kept it goalless then I am sure we would have won today.

"I believe in this team and this squad of course. As I just said, let's not talk too much and stick together."

With regards Gallas, Wenger would only add: "There is nothing to clarify. Of course (he has a future) but we do not speak about the players who have not played today. It is disrespectful."
