Hughes: Balance will come

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has admitted that he is struggling to find the right balance between defence and attack with his side.

It cannot be said that City have been dull to watch this season. At home the Blues have scored goals for fun but away from home it is a different story.

Hughes has seen his side lose successive away games against Middlesbrough and Bolton and on both occasions his team have failed to score.

Both City's attacking qualities and defensive frailties were there for all to see in the 3-2 win against FC Twente in the Uefa Cup on Thursday but Hughes is confident his side will get better.

He said: "Once we get the balance right of scoring goals and keeping clean sheets then we will be a very good side.

"What we have to do better in, is one versus one situations. We need to come out with the ball more often.

"We also need a reality check on occasions when you have to understand what period of the game you are in and see it out more comfortably.

"We have five guys in the box trying to score with only six minutes to go. I do not think we should be criticised for that, though, as we are showing a positive attitude."
