Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Aaron Lennon has the ability to play for England after his performance against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
Lennon ran Paul Ince's men ragged for the whole game as Spurs claimed a 1-0 victory over 10-man Rovers.
The winger was at the heart of everything good that Spurs did especially in the first half when he supplied the assist for Roman Pavlyuchenko's goal.
Lennon had the beating of Rovers full-back Martin Olsson all game and it was no surprise when the Swede brought the Spurs man down for the second time in 12 minutes to earn himself a second yellow card and an early bath.
Redknapp told Sky Sports News: "Aaron is a terrific player, he's a threat he carries the play to the opposition.
"He's got pace and when he gets on the ball something is going to happen. He excites people and his confidence is sky high at the moment.
"He is playing well and I've been really pleased with him.
"I've been encouraging him to get at people. One on one he's unstoppable he's so quick he comes inside, he goes outside.
"People talk about his final ball but you've got to remember that a couple of years ago he went to the World Cup and Aaron can get back to that level again.
"Aaron has the ability to get back onto the England scene."
The win at White Hart Lane took Spurs out of the bottom three and up to 14th in the Premier League and Redknapp is relieved with the form of his side.
He added: "I've just said we would have taken 13 points from 18.
"It's lucky that we have because when you look where we were when we had two points it would look a very scary league table now if we hadn't had such a fantastic run but we have to keep going."
But despite Spurs' upturn in fortunes Redknapp is not taking anything for granted and knows only too well that one defeat could see his side right back in trouble again.
He said: "I just feel we have to keep trying to go up the table.
"I honestly believe that bar the top four, Aston Villa and Everton, if everyone else has a bad run then they could get sucked into trouble so everyone is involved in it apart from them six."
