Hull forward Craig Fagan is back in training following a broken leg, much to the delight of his boss.
The Tigers star sustained the horrific injury during a feisty clash with Newcastle at St James' Park on 13th September.
Magpies midfielder Danny Guthire crashed into the winger during the closing stages of that contest, initially ruling Fagan out of action for up to three months.
However, with his rehabilitation progressing ahead of schedule, the 25-year-old could be back in Phil Brown's plans in the near future.
"He is back on the training ground," said Hull boss Brown.
"He is not back with the first-team squad yet but it will not be long before he is pushing for a place."
Brown has refused to put on a date on a possible comeback but believes Fagan's desire to return would make any targets 'a bit unrealistic' anyway.
"But that is how he is," Brown added.
"He is a really driven person.
"He wants to get back and prove to football that what Guthrie did is wrong.
"The only way to do that is by getting back as soon as possible, playing well and scoring goals in the first team."
Brown is currently preparing his troops for a Saturday showdown with Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
He has key men ready to return to the fold ahead of that game and admits that every member of his squad is desperate to be involved.
"Stelios (Giannakopoulos) has scored a couple of goals in the reserves and got 10 minutes at Fratton Park (last weekend) and Nicky Barmby is chomping at the bit," he said.
"There is just a real buzz about the place at the moment. I don't just have 11 players that want to play, I have 20-plus players wanting to play on Saturday.
"It is fantastic. The atmosphere at the club at the moment is brilliant, seeing as though there is a lot of doom and gloom in the world.
"It is a pleasure to come into work."
