Keane - We should have won

Roy Keane believed his Sunderland side should have won against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Black Cats had a second-half Kieran Richardson free-kick disallowed after referee Keith Stroud adjudged Pascal Chimbonda to have caused interference in the Fulham wall.

Djibril Cisse also hit the crossbar, while Richardson hit another free-kick shortly before the break which hit the posts three times.

When asked about the Richardson disallowed effort, Keane told Sky Sports that they were very surprised that the referee had disallowed it.

"We have seen it again and clearly the goal should have stood but I am more interested in talking about the game than an official's decision because I think that is unfortunate when we played quite well and deserved to win the game," said Keane, who added he may have a chat to the referee about it.

He denied Chimbonda had been pushing in the wall and, if anything, Fulham's players "kept pushing one or two of our players" and his shorts had been grabbed and he thought one of their players had pushed him on the back of the head.

"Sometimes that goes on and one or two players have a laugh and a joke as they are setting the wall up.

"But from the first few moments when Kieran went up to take it, there was nothing went on and clearly our players had no interference in terms of their wall and where the ball went so that was a surprise in terms of the official's decision."

He agreed that it had not been his side's day.

"So in a sense I'm quite glad that we kept a clean sheet and we took a point away with us because the luck was with Fulham today," he said.

"We move on, we bounce back from this - it is not a major disaster we feel we should have won the game but we now need to focus on a big game against Newcastle next weekend."
