Andrei Arshavin's agent has confirmed Tottenham are in talks to sign the Russian star, but says a deal is still a way off.
Tottenham are lining up a move for Arshavin as they look to bolster their squad following the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool.
Arshavin, who impressed at Euro 2008 with Russia, is keen on a move away from Zenit St Petersburg as he seeks a new challenge.
A number of top clubs including Barcelona and Arsenal have been linked with the skilful playmaker, but Tottenham are hoping to lure him to White Hart Lane.
Arshavin's agent representative Dennis Lachter has confirmed Tottenham have held talks with Zenit about signing the 27-year-old and that the player would be interested in a move to North London.
